2022 Jaeckel & Sheehan 5K Walk vs ALS

Join us on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at First Lutheran Church (10680 Main St. Hayward WI 54843) for this annual community gathering, honoring John Jaeckel and Don Sheehan of Hayward, WI and their fights against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Registration opens at 8:30am, then the 5K walk is at 9:00am and afterward features casual breakfast items at the Church. There will be a silent auction and door prizes - all proceeds benefit The ALS Association Wisconsin Chapter.

What You Need to Know

ALS is a horrific and always-fatal disease impacting patients and patient families throughout Wisconsin. It has no known cause. No known cure.  And no widely available effective treatments. Which is why it’s going to take all of us to take down ALS. 

Join the fight by registering for the Jaeckel and Sheehan 5K Walk vs. ALS. Registering for the walk is free, but if everyone who registers would raise at least $100, we'll just be steps away from our goal of $50,000. All proceeds from the walk benefit The ALS Association - Wisconsin Chapter.  

John Jaeckel and Don Sheehan are from Hayward, WI.  John is a former athlete, High School Special Education Teacher, and coach. He was diagnosed with ALS on July 21, 2010 and continues to battle this horrible disease. 

Don served in Vietnam from January of 1968 to January of 1969. He Started working for the City of Hayward Police Department in 1971 and was known as the "Sunday Cop". Don then became Chief of Police and had a total of 35 years with law enforcement. After 8 years of testing, Don was diagnosed with ALS on November 1, 2018 at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center.

Rather than being victims, John and Don made the decision to be advocates. More reason for all of us to work together with them and help put an end to this cruel disease.
